Discrimination

Employment discrimination is a form of discrimination based on race, gender, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, and age by employers.

Federal and State laws protect employees in every aspect of employment, from hiring to firing, including:

• recruitment, including how positions are advertised and how interviews are conducted
• being offered unfair terms and conditions of employment
• being denied training opportunities, promotion, transfers, performance pay or other employment-related benefits
• being unfairly dismissed, retrenched or demoted.

The laws that prohibit discrimination also prohibit harassment and retaliation for complaining about discrimination or harassment or participating in an investigation of workplace discrimination or harassment.
